aboutmatt
Throughout his life, Matt Woodcock has always been encouraged to calm down, settle down and pipe down.
So far he has failed spectacularly.
A former journalist, Matt lives life one way - to the full - and is passionate about sharing his faith, motivational philosophy, pioneering ideas and creative energy.
He is an ordained Church of England pioneer minister in his home city of York.
Matt is a regular contributor to BBC Radio 2’s Pause For Thought on Zoe Ball’s Breakfast Show and is the author of two best-selling books.
Becoming Reverend and Being Reverend are both based on his honest, hilarious and real-life diaries. They chart his unlikely journey from journalism to the priesthood, struggles to conceive and IVF treatment and his crazy first 18 months as a pioneer vicar at one of Hull’s oldest but emptiest churches.
Both books were serialised in the national press and received rave reviews.
Matt has written for a variety of newspapers and magazines including The Guardian, The Daily Mail, The Yorkshire Post and Yorkshire Living.
Matt’s passions include Oasis, pubs, gigs, blisteringly hot curries, York City, climbing mountains, the paintings of Caravaggio, reading books and poetry, collecting postcards, belly laughs and laying on Spanish beaches quaffing ice cold beer.
He is married and has twin girls.
